On October 16th, 2024, METRON, Dalkia, BNP Paribas, and AWS, hosted the second in-person Decarb Fast Track Pioneers Day at BNP Paribas' Paris headquarters. This event marked the midpoint of the Decarb Fast Track program, uniting pioneers and industrial leaders committed to accelerating decarbonization through advanced energy management and data utilization.
The day commenced with a warm welcome from the program's partners, reaffirming their collective dedication to industrial decarbonization. A roundtable discussion followed, moderated by Olivier Provost (Associate Director at Rumeur Publique and former Editor-in-Chief of La Tribune). The panel delved into critical topics such as the evolving energy mix, shifts in political and regulatory landscapes, support mechanisms for manufacturers, and opportunities within the electricity market. Notable contributors included Jean Luc Proutat (Economist at BNP Paribas); Edouard Fourdrin (Manager of the Industrial Department at ADEME), Paul Meunier (Director of Energy Markets at Dalkia), and Vincent Sciandra (CEO of METRON).
The morning session concluded with presentations from three pioneers detailing their decarbonization roadmaps across the food, pharmaceutical, packaging, and metallurgical sectors. These insights provided tangible examples of strategic actions leading to significant results.
In the afternoon, a comprehensive progress report was presented, highlighting achievements from the Decarb Fast Track program's first year. Participants then engaged in workshops covering topics such as leveraging regulatory obligations for energy efficiency, calculating energy consumption and carbon footprint per product, and identifying efficiency actions through data analysis using tools like EnergyLab.
The event concluded with a keynote by Guillaume Poupy (Expert in CSR, Water, and Adaptation to Climate Change at BNP Paribas), who addressed critical water-related challenges facing manufacturers and emphasized proactive strategies to mitigate associated risks.
The Pioneers Day 2024 event exemplified METRON's commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in industrial decarbonization, reinforcing the shared goal of a sustainable future.
